An entry-level police officer is a sworn law enforcement position responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing laws, and maintaining public order in Washington, D.C. Primary duties include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, conducting patrols, investigating incidents and crimes, making arrests, enforcing traffic laws, and preparing detailed reports. Officers in this role are expected to interact professionally with the public, de-escalate conflicts when possible, and perform their duties with integrity while upholding constitutional standards.
